Presently, the foundation is aiming at promoting and supporting young men and women to effectively continue their post-secondary education for aeronautics or scientific careers. The juniors, sophomores, and seniors pursuing their studies in the field of media or related subjects in a university in the Austin Area are considered for the scholarships by AWM Austin. Those students who are attending other colleges but graduated from a high school in Austin and those maintaining a permanent address in Austin are also eligible. The applicants should have completed more than 60 hours of college coursework by the month of December and should possess a GPA of 3.25 or more. The student should also be a full-time majoring individual in radio, television, film, digital media, public relations, advertising, marketing, communications, journalism, or broadcasting.

- Apprentice Ecologist Initiative
The Apprentice Ecologist Initiative is one that is working towards the betterment of the ecosystem and also has several projects to inculcate the feeling in the young minds to conserve and protect nature. The program has been well-known and laureates several times for the initiatives they are up to. The fresh Apprentice Ecologist Projects and the older Apprentice Ecologist Awards are motivations to move in the direction of environmental protection.
The current program is intended to improve the youth towards the development of leadership qualities by engaging them in activities to clean up the environment and be part of several conservation projects. It also makes the young generation be aware of the importance of the program in order to restructure the environment in order to maintain the well-being of the community. All these lead to the improvement of the lives of citizens and wildlife, which is accomplished through teaching, activism, and deeds.
The awards are presented as scholarships to three individual authors who come up with the best essays based on the relevant topic. They should belong to the age group of 13 and 21. The essays need to be worded between 750 and 1500. If you are a national of Nigeria and you want to go to the United Kingdom, you will need to apply for a visa.

Types of visas for the United Kingdom:
There are different types of visas for the UK. You must apply for the correct one depending on why you want to travel to the UK:
1. Standard Visitor Visa – if you are going to the UK on holiday or to see your family and friends, for business or private medical treatment.
Marriage Visitor Visa – if you are planning on getting married
Permitted Paid Engagement Visa – if you want to do specific paid work
Parent of a Tier 4 Child Visa – if your child attends an independent fee-paying day school
Visit the UK in a Chinese Tour Group – for up to 30 days as part of a tour group through the approved destination status agreement (ADS) (Chinese citizens only)

You may submit your application up to 3 months ahead of your departure date. It’s important to allow plenty of time for your application to be processed, so don’t delay! Applications are processed within 15 working days.
When to apply for a Student route visa outside the UK
You can apply up to 6 months before your programme starts, and the process normally takes around 3 weeks.
When should I make my visa application?
You can make your application up to 6 months before your programme start date, which will be stated on your CAS.
You should aim to make your Student route application as early as possible, once you have gathered your supporting documents.
You should not make your Student route application more than 6 months in advance of the start date of your programme or your application will be rejected and you will lose your application fee.
How long does the application process take?
The application process from outside the UK normally takes around 15 working days (3 weeks) from the date you attend your appointment at the visa application centre.
Some countries offer a priority application service which takes 5 working days, and/or a super-priority service which takes 1 day.

- I am planning on visiting my family in the UK for a long stay. Can I apply for a Standard Visitor Visa?
No, the Standard Visitor Visa will allow you to stay in the UK for up to 6 months only. If you are planning on staying longer AND your family is settled in the UK, you would need to apply for a “family of a settled person” visa. See GOV.UK for more information
- I want help with the online application process. Is this possible?
It depends on the visa application center where you will be attending your appointment. The centers have different services available, so you check with them to see if they offer this
- Why do I have to provide an invitation letter?
If you are being invited by a person or a company, this is a document you must provide. If you fail to provide this, your application will not be processed or it will be rejected.
